VOYAGEURS

Only by going alone in silence, without baggage, can one truly get into the heart of the wilderness. All other travel is mere dust and hotels and baggage and chatter.

  • Size: Approximately 218,200 acres (88,364 hectares).

The calls of loons, the howl of coyotes, a sudden downpour, roasting hotdogs, gorgeous flowers, cold wind, warm hot chocolate, hiking Ellsworth Rock Gardens with abstract rock sculptures, our boat tour passing several eagles – my thoughts get compelling images of our adventure to this pristine wilderness. The park is unforgettable. More than one-third of Voyageurs is water. We toyed with the idea of fishing; after all our campsite had a fire pit. Seriously the thought was fleeting. The Aurora Borealis occasionally will light the night sky with shimmering colors but alas, we missed the show. Voyaguers is a magnificent place to enjoy a piece of heaven.
