It was my birthday – August 15. A donkey walked up to the van and welcomed our arrival. Describing this amazing place is impossible. Scorching-freezing; desolate-teeming with animals and plants; canyons-mountains; Death Valley is a place of extremes. The hottest temperature recorded was 134* in 1913; the lowest record temperature was that same year, 15*. Outside of Alaska, Death Valley is the largest national park in the United States. While death by heat and falls do happen, the most common cause of death is oddly, motor vehicle crashes. The air is clean, and the views are impressive but be cautious. Take plenty of water, breath deeply and be inspired!
