GUADALUPE MOUNTAINS

Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.

  • Date Created: September 30, 1972.

At 8,751 feet, Guadalupe Peak is the highest point in Texas. The park offers a a variety of hikes from the McKittrick Canyon which I found absolutely beautiful to the grueling climb up the Guadalupe Peak Trail for the more adventuresome. While not as high as Guadalupe Peak, El Capitan is an outstanding limestone bluff that is beautiful from the distance and often used as the park’s landmark. Certainly this park offers solace and quiet in our busy, tumultuous world.
